Back Up Your Birth Control Action Campaign
Back Up Your Birth Control (BUYBC) is a national campaign to expand access to EC (Emergency Contraception) by increasing EC education and awareness.

This year, the Back Up Your Birth Control Day of Action is March 25, 2008.  The Illinois Choice Action Team is using this day to kick off our campaign to help restore affordable access to contraception.  While we're still celebrating the FDA decision that made EC available over-the-counter to women 18 and over, we realize that the high cost of EC - usually $40-70 in pharmacies across the country - is a barrier to many women and prevents them from having access to this option.

And a law from 2005, the Deficit Reduction Act, made it necessary for many college health centers and safety-net family planning clinics to drastically increase the cost of regular birth control.  This means that access to EC is even more important than ever for the four million college-age women across America and the many low-income women who rely on the 400 safety-net family planning clinics.

Join the Illinois Choice Action Team's campaign to restore affordable access to contraception.  Illinois' own Senator Barack Obama introduced the Prevention Through Affordable Access Act which will address this problem and help restore affordable prices for birth control.
